Chapter 2: Touch the Body
A ritual chapter about returning to the body not as an obligation—but as a site of knowing, refuge, and quiet defiance.
Touch Without Explanation
You don’t have to earn softness.
You don’t have to justify why you’re tired.
The body you’re in—today, right now—is not a problem to solve.
It’s not a task to complete. You don’t have to fight it.
You just have to feel it.Touch is how we begin again.
Touch is what makes anything real.

Bring your hand to your heart.
Let your palm rest flat against your chest.Ask softly, without force:
What am I feeling here?Is there pressure? Grief? Gratitude? Emptiness?
Let it be what it is.Now move your hand to your belly or pelvis—somewhere lower, closer to the gut.
Breathe into that space.
Let the breath widen the container, even if just a little.Ask: What am I holding here that doesn’t belong to me?
You don’t need an answer.
The asking is enough. Finally, place your hands on your limbs—your arms, legs, wherever you choose.
Feel the strength, the softness, the presence.Ask: What part of me deserves tenderness right now?
Stay with whatever surfaces.
You don’t need to solve your body.
You only need to listen to it.
