Chapter 3: Pack Light

What do we carry—on our backs, in our bags, in our bodies—and what happens when we put it down?

There are things you packed when you had no choice.
Ways of talking. Ways of shrinking.
Scripts. Smiles. Proof.

There are bags you carry now out of habit.
Out of fear. Out of muscle memory.

This chapter is about looking inside the bag—
the one in your hand,
the one in your chest,
the one in your story—
and asking:

Does this still serve me?

If not, you can set it down.

You don’t have to explain why.

  • Use this ritual as a guided release before events or after long days.

    • Intended Use: For transitions, pre-travel grounding, or emotional decluttering

    • Length: ~3.5 min

  • Find a surface near you.
A table. A bed. A chair. A patch of ground.

Imagine it as a place to unpack—not just your bag, but what you’ve been carrying.

Set your bag down. Or imagine it.

    Slowly, remove three things.
These can be physical, emotional, energetic.

    For each one, say:
    “Why did I pack this?”

    Pause.

    “Do I still need it?”

    Pause.

“If I leave it behind, what am I making space for?”

One by one, place the items on your surface.
You can say goodbye to them, if it helps.

You can keep what still serves.
    Let the rest stay here.

    Breathe.

    Say aloud or silently:

“I carry only what serves. The rest can stay here.”

    Stand. Stretch.
    Leave lighter.
